Katsushika Hokusai's masterpiece "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji"
The motif is "Fine Wind, Clear Morning (also known as Red Fuji)"
"Red Mount Fuji Curry"
Fine wind and clear sky
Nickname: Red Fuji
One of the 46 prints in Katsushika Hokusai 's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji , a series of famous ukiyo-e prints , is "Fine Wind, Clear Weather," commonly known as " Red Fuji ." Some Japanese dictionaries list "Fine Wind, Clear Weather" as the second meaning of "Red Fuji ." It is a large horizontal nishiki-e ( large nishiki horizontal format [2] ). It is one of the three great works in the series, along with "The Great Wave off Kanagawa " and " White Rain Under the Mountain . " Looking at his career as a painter, it is one of his masterpieces, second only to "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," as it is widely known around the world.
This work captures the beautiful Mt. Fuji from the front, with its gentle ridgeline shining brightly , on a clear day with a refreshing blue sky and sardine clouds . The red color of the mountain surface may represent the state of being exposed to the sun (※There is no definitive theory. See below).
Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji is a series of paintings of Mount Fuji by the late Edo period ukiyo- e artist Katsushika Hokusai , and was published between1831and 1833 .
A total of 36 illustrations, with 10 additional illustrations. It is unclear whether the viewpoint of this work is from the Kai or Suruga province side, but along with "Yamashita Hakuu ( White Rain Under the Mountain )," it is a work that depicts Mount Fuji from the front on a large scale, with a sea of trees at the bottom of the screen, mackerel clouds in the sky , and a snowy field remaining on the peak of Mount Fuji .
In addition, in the " Hokusai Manga Five Volumes" published in the 13th year of the Bunsei era (1816 ), Hokusai created an untitled work that focused solely on the shape of Mount Fuji.
"Kaifu" is a word found in the Book of Songs , and means a gentle southerly wind that blows in the summer. This painting is commonly known as " Red Fuji ," and is said to capture the moment when the mountain's surface turns reddish in the early summer morning sunlight. Before Hokusai painted "Kaifu, Clear Sky ," there were other examples such as Norosuke's "Rock of Jade Hibiscus Peak" (owned by Wakimura Scholarship Association, Wakayama), which may have influenced Hokusai .
On the other hand, however, it is pointed out that the only basis for this is the similarity between "Fine Wind, Clear Sky" and the Red Fuji phenomenon, there is no information in the title or painting that indicates it is morning, and if it is red due to the morning sun shining on it, the small amount of snow remaining would have been printed in pink or red, and when looking at other Hokusai paintings of Fuji, it is clear that Hokusai distinguishes between the themes of clear skies and mornings, and that the phenomenon of Red Fuji was hardly known to the general public during the Edo period, so it is unnatural to feature it in a commercially published ukiyo-e print without clearly indicating it in the title or otherwise. Based on these reasons, some are of the opinion that the color was red to emphasize that the brown mountainside of Mt. Fuji is brightly lit under a clear sky, and that as the rare phenomenon of Red Fuji became known, the memorable phrase "Red Fuji" helped to popularize it.
Does a red Fuji bring good luck? Is it auspicious?
Since Red Fuji is a rare sight, it is said that those who see it will be protected from misfortune and their wishes, such as business prosperity, will come true.
Furthermore, in Feng Shui, it is said that placing red interior decor in the east to southeast direction is auspicious, will bring busyness at work, and will cut off bad relationships, and so many people display red Fuji in their homes.
There is also a superstition that if a pregnant woman draws a Red Fuji (red with a sun inside) while in labor, gives the picture to someone hoping for a child, and displays it in the north side of the bedroom, she will be blessed with children.
Red Fuji is considered auspicious, making it the perfect gift for a new home, wedding, or other celebrations, or as a souvenir.
*Please note that there are various theories regarding the above.

Red Mount Fuji Curry
This is the second Mt. Fuji curry following the "Blue Mt. Fuji Curry" which was released in April 2018 and became a hot topic as an "Instagrammable blue curry." As you would expect from its red color, it is very spicy.
The second in the Mt. Fuji Curry series, "Red Mt. Fuji Curry," is a spicy curry that recreates the color of "Red Fuji," as opposed to the traditional creamy "Blue Mt. Fuji Curry."
It is not just "dry" but is made with a unique spice blend that adds a savory flavor to the spiciness, and also contains grape juice from Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, "Japan's No. 1 Grape Village," to give it a rich, deep flavor.
Furthermore, we incorporated the Japanese "dashi" culture, which is popular among foreigners, into the curry to create a delicious "umami" flavor that can be felt even in the spiciness.
We use Japanese pepper as a spice and the numbing spiciness of mala gives it a sharp spiciness.
Furthermore, the color of Mount Fuji, which appears to be dyed red in "Red Fuji," is created using natural paprika pigments and grape juice, etc.
This dish features a spicy flavor that combines spiciness and umami.
