A symbol of warding off evil

Products featuring the "Yogennotori" design will be released on June 7th.

Two types of instant curry and Japanese sweets

· NEWS

The product was developed with the approval of Yamanashi Prefectural Museum, which holds the copyright to "Yogennotori," which became a hot topic after a post on social media. The packaging for the retort curry is designed to look like a banknote and can be cut out and displayed as a decoration, while the Japanese sweets have Yogennotori printed on the gyusha. The two products will be released in hopes of ending the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fujisan Products (Head office: Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Product Director: Takahiro Ashizawa), which develops and sells souvenirs and food related to Mt. Fuji, and Yamafuji Co., Ltd. (Head office: Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Managing Director: Shigeki Yamamoto), which operates a souvenir wholesale business, announced on Sunday, June 7th that

Hoping for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be releasing a product with a design featuring the "Yogennotori," a symbol of disease prevention. Two types of products will be released at the same time: instant curry and Japanese sweets.

■Products featuring the “Yogennotori” design have been released in hopes of ending the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sales will continue until the end of the pandemic, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated.

The coronavirus pandemic that began in the winter of 2020 shows no signs of ending.

The two product development staff from both Fujisan Products and Yamafuji Co., Ltd.

We are deeply involved in the tourism industry, and at a time when tourism in Yamanashi Prefecture is in a slump, we came up with this plan with the desire to let people all over the country know about Yamanashi Prefecture, and to have many people visit the prefecture once the situation has settled down.

Among them, Yamanashi Prefectural Museum has been discussing and considering whether it is possible to commercialize the design of "Yogennotori", a symbol of warding off epidemics, which was posted on Twitter on April 3rd and has become a hot topic.

This led to the development of these two products.

Sales will begin on Sunday, June 7th in hopes of ending the COVID-19 pandemic.

Advance reservations will begin on Wednesday, May 20th, prior to the release date.

These two products will be on sale until the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A portion of the sales

The funds will be donated to the COVID-19 Prevention Activities Fund.

There are two types of products being released this time.

The instant curry uses "Yogennotori" on the packaging.

The design is in the style of a paper charm, in keeping with the tradition that dates back to the Edo period, and the packaging can be displayed and worshiped.

The selling price is based on the number "5" which has various spiritual meanings.

The price has been set at 555 yen (tax included).

The sweets themselves feature a design of "Yogennotori" printed on them.

The printed product is visible from the outside of the package.

The design is combined into two products.
The selling price is the same as curry.

The number "5" has various spiritual meanings.

The price has been set at 555 yen (tax included).

<Yogennotori>

The Yogennotori appears in the "Diary of an Epidemic of Diarrhea" written in 1858 (Ansei 5) by Kizaemon, a village official in Ichikawa Village, Kai Province (present-day Yamanashi City). The author describes a rumor he heard: "A bird appeared on Mt. Hakusan in Kaga Province last December and said, 'A cholera epidemic will occur next year, sometime between August and September, in which 90% of the world's people will die.'" (In Ansei 5, a cholera epidemic occurred in Edo, resulting in many deaths.) The bird is said to have said, "If you worship me in the morning and evening, you will avoid this disaster."

An application for permission to use the image of the "Yogennotori" was submitted to Yamanashi Prefectural Museum, which owns the "Diary of an Epidemic of Diarrhea" and holds the copyright, and approval was received.

With the cooperation of the museum and the Yamanashi Tourism Organization, a public interest incorporated association that disseminates tourism information about Yamanashi Prefecture, the products are also available for purchase through an online shop run by the organization, making them available to people all over the country.

We are also considering making it available for sale at roadside stations, local supermarkets, and other tourist facilities within Yamanashi Prefecture.
